demonstrations. During this shiai, a new twist was taken on the traditional sparring competition. Instead of point fighting within a ring, kyu and dan ranks alike geared up for a time of "Round Robin". This provided an excellent opportunity to work with and learn from a variety of exceptionally knowledgeable martial artists.

The shiai also provided a time to recognize the achievements of a number hard-working individuals. The following Dan Rank promotions were awarded:

Sensei Bill Sullivan, Nana-Dan
Chris Duarte, Sho-dan
Sean Gallagher, Sho-dan
Gregorio Sanchez, Sho-dan

Overall, the October shiai was a success and greatly enjoyed by all participants. Mark your calendars for the February shiai and another OI family event.
